Specific Range Solutions Ltd. has released its latest study into the public domain entitled “Analysis of Forecast Upper Winds and Temperature Data in Southern Canadian Airspace“. The brief paper assesses the accuracy of long and short range upper winds and temperature forecasts by comparing them to data from Canadian AMDAR-equipped commercial aircraft. Errors in wind direction, wind velocity and temperature were quantified. Upper winds forecast accuracy has an impact flight planning and operations, therefore use of the most accurate forecast (FD) data is highly desirable. All feedback is most welcome.
